Teeth Whitening

HOW DOES TEETH WHITENING WORK?

Nearly all effective products for teeth whitening use the same active ingredients, called “peroxides.” Peroxides are extremely volatile oxygen molecules that, for a clearer smile, kill stains and bleach your teeth. Professional products ensure that all the teeth are evenly whitened and that the peroxides do not harm your gums.

Teeth whitening, whether it is caused by dark colored food and drinks, cigarette use, or the normal aging process, is beneficial for any external tooth stain. Teeth whitening, however, can not be used for the prevention of internal discoloration.

There are also advantages of teeth whitening therapies. Here are only a couple you can look forward to:

Restored self-confidence – With teeth that are free from embarrassing stains or yellowing, you can smile and speak openly.

Makes you look younger – Since our teeth tend to be yellow as we age, whitening your teeth will help to rejuvenate your whole face and take years off your appearance.

Fast, inexpensive, and non-invasive – The least costly cosmetic dentistry treatments are teeth whitening, and it can be accomplished in only one consultation without anesthetic or some sort of invasive surgery.

We offer both in-office whitening and take-home whitening kits at Omaha Family Dental. In-office whitening is performed by us and allows you to brighten your smile in just a single appointment. This option is ideal if you need fast results for an upcoming event like a wedding or reunion.

If you opt for our take-home whitening kit, we will create a custom whitening tray that fits perfectly over your teeth. You’ll use these trays along with powerful whitening agents from our office to brighten your smile in the comfort of your own home. Your teeth will be whitened over a period of 2-3 weeks, providing more subtle, gradual results than in-office whitening.

Not sure which teeth whitening option is right for you? We recommend scheduling a cosmetic consultation with Dr. Rehan Shahid and Dr. Husnain Shahid. We can discuss all of your treatment options as well as your preferences to help you decide which treatment is best for your needs. Call us today at 903-884-2321 to get started!

Usually, teeth whitening will last between 1-3 years, but this depends on how well you care for your teeth. With regular touch-ups from Dr. Rehan, you can keep your teeth white for years! Our unique, 20 Minute UV Smiles technology lets us whiten your teeth in just 20 minutes after your cleaning, and causes no sensitivity. With regular 20 Minute UV Smiles treatments, your whitening routine will fit perfectly into your preventive care schedule so you can continue to keep your smile bright for years to come.

First and foremost, brush and floss regularly to prevent stain buildup. You can also brush or rinse your mouth after drinking a beverage like coffee or tea which may stain your teeth. Also, using a straw when drinking these beverages will help prevent stain buildup as the liquids will not come in contact with your teeth. You should also cease smoking tobacco or using oral tobacco products.
